6 Ways to Scale Your Business, According to Top Female Founders
Starting up is one thing. Growing your company is a whole other challenge.

When growth is the goal, understanding the best way to scale your business is essential. Technical details, like the intricacies of your supply chain or your retail distribution strategy, play a large part in achieving this goal—but it’s just as important to have a clear vision and well-honed soft skills. When all of those varied factors come together, you can unlock seemingly limitless growth potential.
Here, six women entrepreneurs who run substantial, fast-growth enterprises share the secrets that helped them scale their businesses.
1. Face forward
“As far as innovation, I think that every founder’s charge is to future-proof your business. And so look ahead, make predictions of what’s going to have to be realistic, and then build toward that.“ —Amber Venz Box, president and co-founder of LTK, an influencer affiliate marketing platform

2. Put people first
“From the very beginning, we’ve operated with the value ‘juntos es mejor‘—together is better. Even through periods of rapid expansion, we always prioritize our people and the culture of our company. By ensuring our team feels valued and supported, we stay collectively motivated to grow Siete. Every Friday, the entire organization comes together for a family-style lunch prepared by our in-house chef—and extended family members are welcome to join. We truly believe in nurturing the connections between our people, which ultimately improves the work we can do together.“ —Veronica Garza, co-founder and president of Siete Family Foods, a Mexican American food brand

3. Build on what works
“Last year, we innovated significantly on our core subscription business—completely revamped and launched four of the eight lines that we had with all new products and are getting some really great feedback. So not only innovating on what you have, but then on top of that, really try to layer on these areas of growth. We have a wholesale business that we’ve launched and an education business in which we serve schools and groups too. Really look for those areas and be strategic about what you would like to invest in.” —Sandra Oh Lin, founder and CEO of KiwiCo, an educational toy kit company

4. Keep in touch with customers
“Staying close to the customer is, I truly believe, the only thing that’s going to keep a company ahead. I talk to our brands and our creators every single day—they’re constantly giving me feedback.“ —Tiffany Lopinsky, co-founder and president of ShopMy, a creator marketing platform

5. Embrace change as a constant
“Remember that the company changes every six months. You have to be willing to adapt to that change, and the people who come in have to be willing to adapt as well. As we’ve grown from a very fast paced startup to a more steady, scaling company, while we want to retain the scrappiness of a startup, we also have the balance of the right processes and tools to have this stability. We’re constantly thinking about that balance.” —Neha Sampat, founder and CEO of Contentstack, a composable digital experience platform

6. Take care of yourself
“You have the company, the processes, the teams that you need to scale, but you, as a founder and CEO, also need to scale. In order to do that, you have to make sure that you know your thinking and your health is taken care of. Things that have become really important for me in thinking about scale is making sure that I am working out, that I am eating well and have strategies to manage stress. If you don’t have some of those fundamental things in place, the challenges that you will confront directly related to the business become all that much harder.” —Tammy Sun, founder and CEO of Carrot Fertility, a global fertility care platform

We would add.... stay connected to your customers
Unlike #4, keep in touch with your customers, stay connected involves listening to your customers to determine current and future needs. Teaching your sales team how to make a connection with customers is vital in scaling your business.
